Before over 80 attendees at the 2018 NDEDIC EDI Summit Collaborate -Accelerate – Innovate, the National Dental EDI Council (NDEDIC) presented their annual Volunteer Awards.
Individuals honored were:
- Rising Star: Kristina Steece, Ameritas, Manager Customer Connections & Operations
Kristina has been with Ameritas since 2003. She has extensive experience in claims operations and customer service. Kristina has been instrumental in increasing auto-adjudication rates for claims processing and her "outside of the box" ideas have resulted in improved processes and efficiencies.
Kristina became a member of NDEDIC in 2017 and since that time has chaired the Service Type Code task group and she participates in the 271 FAQ task group, Real Time Predetermination task group, Work Group 1 and Work Group 2. She is leading a round table discussion at the EDI Summit to talk about contact center challenges.
On a personal note, Kristina is married and has a daughter Hailey and a 2 year old granddaughter, Talia, who is the light of her life. Kristina enjoys running, strength training and cooking.
- Volunteer of the Year: Claudio Golia, Senior IT Business Analyst, Change Healthcare
Claudio Golia is a Senior IT Business Analyst with Change Healthcare. He has 18 years of combined IT and business experience in the healthcare industry, of which 10 has been spent in the dental space. His experience includes managing support centers for both Medicare and Medicaid administrators, which has led to extensive knowledge of the Professional, Institutional, and Dental revenue cycle management process and workflow. In his time with Change Healthcare, he has successfully managed and supported numerous channel partner implementation projects related to ASC X12 27x and 835 transactions. In addition, he contributes to the ongoing development of products and tools to automate and streamline
business processes for the dental payer and provider communities. He has been an NDEDIC member for 3 years and has served on multiple task groups during his tenure. He has most recently accepted a co-chair position of Workgroup 1 (Eligibility and Benefits).
- Chairman’s Award: Karen Camp
Karen Camp is a Dental Account Manager at Change Healthcare. She provides hands-on service to her clients as their single point of contact for ongoing service delivery and solution development. Karen’s career has always involved customer service, client relations, and marketing. Karen has been with Change Healthcare for 20+ years and has been a NDEDIC member for 7+ years. She currently serves on the NDEDIC Board as a Trustee and Secretary, Chairs the Membership Committee and is a Co-Chair on the Conference and Education Committee. Some of Karen’s hobbies are traveling and gardening.
Benjamin D. Ward Award and Emeritus Board Member: Scott Wellwood, President, DentalXChange
Co-founded Electronic Insurance Service (EIS), Inc., in 1989, a company focused on providing the dental market with solutions that increased the efficiency of claim processing. In 1999, he co-founded EDI Health Group, Inc., which integrated the core services of EIS with Internet-based technology to deliver enhanced connectivity and transaction solutions for patients, payers and providers in the dental industry. Over the last 29 years, Scott has forged relationships with numerous practice management system vendors, clearinghouses, payers, and industry organizations.
He has been instrumental in growing the adoption of EDI solutions in the dental market through his efforts to educate the industry on the benefits and value delivered to dental practices through the implementation of EDI technology to support both intra- and inter-organizational business processes and transactions. Scott currently serves as a Trustee and Chairman of the National Dental EDI Council (NDEDIC). Scott received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from California State University, Fullerton.
